IVF & complex fertility care

A thoughtful review of your history, with room to ask what could come next.

Embryology staff working in the DRC laboratory

IVF brings eggs and sperm together in a laboratory. It involves several stages, and the approach can differ from one person to another.

Begin with the whole picture

Whether this is your first consultation or you have had treatment before, bring the details of your previous assessments and cycles. The team can discuss what is known, what remains uncertain and which questions need further investigation.

Understand the stages

An IVF cycle may include ovarian stimulation and monitoring, egg collection, fertilisation and embryo culture, followed by transfer or freezing. Not every egg becomes an embryo, and an embryo transfer does not guarantee pregnancy.

Discuss benefits and risks

Ask about expected response, the chance of having an embryo available, procedure risks and the alternatives. Your clinician should explain risks including ovarian hyperstimulation, as well as the implications of transferring more than one embryo.
