DAN RUO · AGE & OVARIAN RESERVE

Age & ovarian reserve

Make sense of your results in the context of your whole fertility history.

Consultation and examination room at DRC

Ovarian reserve tests provide information about egg quantity and possible response to stimulation. They do not directly measure egg quality or give a yes-or-no answer about having a baby.

Look beyond a single number

AMH and antral follicle count can help estimate response to ovarian stimulation. A clinician interprets them alongside age, medical history and previous treatment response.

Bring previous cycle information

The number of follicles, eggs collected and embryos developed can add context to a review. A result from one test is only part of that discussion.

Leave room for uncertainty

Low ovarian reserve does not mean pregnancy is impossible. It can affect treatment expectations, but a test alone should not decide access to care. Ask what the results can and cannot tell you.
